Marrakesh By Design book tour!

I have been meaning to tell you about Maryam Montague, and now is as good a time as any! You see, she is a very talented woman - a human rights democracy specialist, writer, photographer, wife, and mother... In addition to all of those things, Maryam is the owner/shopper for Red Thread Souk, writer of the acclaimed blog My Marrakesh, and co-owner (with her husband) of the amazing Peacock Pavilions boutique resort in Marrakesh, Morocco - which they designed, built, and decorated from scratch!

Maryam and her family live on the very same property as the guest pavilions - a sprawling olive grove on the outskirts of the heart of Marrakesh. There are lots of unique vacation retreat packages that you can check out on the Peacock Pavilions website or through Maryam's blog, My Marrakesh.  I have longed to visit Peacock Pavilions for some time, it is one of the most stunning and uniquely decorated boutique resorts that I've ever seen (in magazines that is-haha). Between the Moorish architecture and the eclectic array of arranged world treasures, Peacock Pavilions looks like a bohemian paradise to me, I can't wait to go!

Now Maryam has come out with her first book, Marrakesh By Design, a beautiful compilation of her experiences in the Marrakesh souks and love for Moroccan design. I don't buy many design books, but I just had to have this one! So, a few months back I ordered Marrakesh By Design on Amazon and I just got a notification e-mail the other day letting me know that it was shipping out. If it weren't for that e-mail, I might not have clicked over to Maryam's blog in time to find out that she will be at Books & Books in Coral Gables in Miami, Florida this coming Monday May 7th at 8:00pm!

As a Sociology major with a passion for social issues and human rights, I admire Maryam's background in human rights and democracy.  But most of all, I find her style and eye for design so inspiring, not to mention her Moroccan lifestyle and travels around the world collecting beautiful treasures.  Maryam and her husband have done an amazing job creating a dreamy resort, which makes me want to have my own resort, or run away to Morocco... okay okay, both! I'm sure I'm going to love Marrakesh By Design and I'm sure she will be a pleasure to finally meet...

Maybe I'll see you there? If you live in Miami, come on out to Books & Books in Coral Gables on Monday May 7th at 8:00pm to hear Maryam speak on her new book Marrakesh By Design.

I can't even begin to explain how gorgeous I find this space... The framed Antar poster on the fireplace mantle, the fireplace itself, the suzani upholstered ottoman, the carved wood table, the framed antique prints... OH MY! I love it all...

Isn't this hallway stunning? Maryam and her husband had these metal star lanterns custom made in the souks of Marrkesh...

I'm sure some of you may have already seen this fantastic bedroom floating around the internet, well it's a bedroom in one of the guest pavilions at Peacock Pavilions...

I shared this image before in a Moroccan design and decor post, at the time I did not know about Peacock Pavilions or that the image was from there. So here is is again, a beautiful wood carved Moroccan side table with a pitcher of vibrant fuchsia bougainvillea flowers set against an incredible wall mural...

This beautiful white and turquoise/teal ceiling design was painted by hand!

This arched Moorish doorway and silver perforated metal pendant lights have my heart aching...

Bright colorful patterns and lots of light, fantastic!  Wouldn't you love for this to be your hotel for a week or two?

Maryam's beautiful bedroom was also featured in a recent issue of Elle Decor Magazine, along with many other images of Peacock Pavilions...  I love all of the fabric, and that huge piece of art (a gift from her parents) is awesome!

Pretty amazing huh?  I'd really love to visit Morocco some day...
