Painted Rocks

Hi there, how was your Valentine's Day?  Mine was delicious!  Haha...  I know you're really going to love this post, because I am feeling beyond psyched to go paint some rocks now! The last time I painted rocks I was like ten years old, my best friend and I decided to paint large rocks and sell them around the neighborhood as decorative paper weights!! Hahahaha... We actually sold a few, bless the hearts of those sweet neighbors! Let's see, what else did we do? We colored pennies with markers and then covered them with Elmer's glue and watched them dry into clear colored bubbles over Lincoln's face, hehe... We also created a spattered colorful mess painted the inside of this small concrete shed (that no longer exists) in my backyard, while dancing to Ace of Base. Oh yeah baby, those were the days! ;)

Anyway, enough memories, all that was to say that I once painted rocks, pennies, and sheds - among other things. The images in this post, and in another upcoming post with more painted/crafty rocks, really inspire the artist in me to give rock painting another shot. As with many other things, the creative possibilities are endless. One day I will have a huge apothecary jar full of pretty painted rocks...right next to another apothecary jar full of wine corks. Gotta love collecting things. Hoarders, here I come! Haha, just kidding. How does ones home get that bad anyway?? Eeeek, it's getting to the point where I can't even watch that show out of morbid curiosity anymore, it's getting worse and worse.

I'm going to paint some rocks people!  Why don't we all do it this weekend and share images of our creations on the Inspire Bohemia Facebook page next week?  That would be cool.  No pressure though, I know how it is, procrastination is a powerful thing.

I'm thinking paisley, owls, mushrooms, peacocks, Hamsa hands, Moroccan patterns, flowers, lace and lattice designs, words/quotes... and especially: Ikat and Suzani designs, and succulents and cacti - of course.  I'm breaking out my paint brushes, acrylic craft paint, and puffy paint....

IDEA:  Instead of paint, heat up stones and paint them with crayons.  Watching colorful wax melt?  Sounds like my idea of a good time!

These rocks aren't painted, they're covered in glass mosaic - totally doable!  I love them!

Okay, so these rocks aren't painted... they're drilled to look like buttons!  Isn't that great?  You could always paint some rocks to give the illusion of button holes!  If not, get a special bit and drill away!
