It's Friday and I am more than ready to say goodbye to this work week and begin my weekend! How about you? I highly doubt your answer is anything other than HELL YEAH! Anyway, if you don't already know, BP has successfully capped the gushing oil wellhead!!! However, other than the fact that it's the first time in nearly three months that it has not gushed obscene amounts of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, we still can't breath a sigh of relief! No, no. There are still many fears about how long the cap can be sustained, there's a horrific possibility that the extreme pressure might not allow it for long. In the meantime, they do not believe there are any underground leaks, but I'm not about to believe anything BP says! They are working on performing tests and continuing progress on drilling the relief wells and all that mumbo jumbo. Jeez. I really hope the worst possible scenario does not come true, which is that pressure will circumvent the cap and an explosion will occur akin to that of a volcano.... leaving us with an underwater volcano of gushing crude at an impossible depth. As it is the effects on our coast and marine wildlife are devastating, perhaps even on the people along the coast who are constantly breathing the overwhelming fumes! We could be cleaning up the oil in the Gulf of Mexico for years to come.

Okay okay, onto brighter topics, after all it's Friday... my weekend plans! This weekend is going to be busy busy!! Tomorrow my boyfriend and I plan to get out of the apartment fairly early and trek up to Sunrise for a visit to IKEA. I really need Ikea to help me with solve storage and space saving solution issues, as I have been feeling a little bit overwhelmed with my plethora of unorganized belongings! Also, I must acquire a new lamp shade for my blue glass hobnail antique lamp, a cheap shelving unit, a bar stool for my bar-height desk and perhaps even one of those basket woven fiber storage ottomans! Phew... I hope I make it out of there without spending more than $100.... yeah right. Oh! And I must stock up on those enormous packs of scented tea lights for me and my mom, those things last forever!

I need a new shade for my beloved antique blue hobnail glass lamp... errr...work of art.... the current lime green one is getting shabby...

What else? Oh! I want to try and squeeze in, finally, the last steps in refinishing an antique record cabinet that one of my great aunts gave me....

I sanded this beauty over TWO years ago and to this day she sits with a fabric runner on top for some pizazz! Now that I think of it, I could have saved myself a lot of trouble had I known that my mind would change about staining it a dark chocolate color. Why is that? Well, when this piece was given to me it was covered in about two inches of a grimy yellowish cream color, ECK! So, after repeated stripping I finally broke through to the wood and then sanded her down nice and smooth. The problem with that is that now I think I want to paint her instead of stain the wood! Sheesh! What color you ask? Turquoise! Of course! Now, I know you may be wincing to yourself, but I plan on using a very soft powdery turquoise color so as not to be too bright and obnoxious (more on the color soon). Also, I think painting the inside a richer and slightly darker version of turquoise would really make a statement when opened! The gold inlay detail on the doors will stay as is, it will be the rustic reminder of its past and I think it will contrast wonderfully against a light turquoise blue. Last but not least the finishing detail, HARDWARE! This cabinet opens by pushing the doors in, but I have the PERFECT antique drawer knobs to stick smack dab in the center of those doors!! Here they are....

...And maybe, just maybe I will get around to finally hanging some of these...

But that's just SATURDAY! LOL... Sunday my boyfriend's best friend and his fiance are coming down from Long Island, New York to visit. They are staying in a time-share resort up in West Palm Beach and we'll be making the drive up there to spend the day with them.

I must do as much relaxing as possible tonight if I am to make it through this weekend!!!

Oh, and I'll leave you with some sneak peek images of the shelving we finally put up in the den/craft room last weekend, I'll save the room reveal pictures for when we finally finish getting it in order, whenever that will be! So you know, I created these little vignettes no sooner had the shelves gone up, be sure that it has already changed since I took the pictures and will remain in a constant state of change here on out. I like it that way! Things never get boring because I rotate my decor around....
