I’m sure throughout the many blog posts on my succulents and cacti you’ve noticed this stunning large mama Echeveria! I’m not sure what its name is within the Echeveria family, I think it’s Glauca, but if I’m wrong please correct me. Well, this hearty drought-tolerant landscape succulent has transformed into quite the beauty! As if it wasn’t cute enough when I first bought it, just look at what happened over a couple months!
Although I love all of my plants, this one must be the most adorable – I call it my bloomin’ onion! One other lovely part of this particular succulent are the babies rapidly sprouting from her roots! They are poppin’ out all over!
This is when I first bought it, it had no flower stalks whatsoever.....
This was a few weeks after I bought it..... two baby flower stalks sprouting from the rosette center!...
When I got back from my trip to Europe this is what it looked like!!! What rapid growth! I was in pleasant shock!....
adorable...
And today this is what the beautiful monster bloom' onion looks like..... pretty little pink and yellow flowers....
Isn't she amazing? Yes, yes she is.... I cant wait to plant her in a yard some day where she can rage out of control! YEAH!!!
It's Friday, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOO!
I have the SAME one. I thought it was called the desert rose... but you probably know more than I do. It's my favorite succulent too! I'll take a pic of my masterpiece (constructed a mere 2 months ago) and send it to you. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and we're getting old when we post pics of our plants. lol
Please send me a picture, I'd love to see it! And yeah... we've officially reached the age where we have enough skill and patience to like plants! HA :)
ReplyDeleteHi! It is definitely a glauca! I have a bunch of them. This one is a beauty and you are right when you plant it in a bigger planter it will go crazy!!! Terrific shots. By the way these always remind me of my childhood because my mom always had these and she called them Hen and chickens!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous plant - I can't wait 'til mine gets that big and blooms. Love the blue pot too, I've got one really similar in the same colour, and it seems like whatever I put in it looks great, especially succulents.
ReplyDeleteim so happy i finally found out the name for this plant i have been wanting to know for 22 hours now lol your blog has been most helpful thank you!! :)
